Tour Description

This tour begins with a short interpretative drive through the town and along the Chilkat River Valley. From the Highway, we hike uphill for about 15 minutes to the base of majestic rock cliffs overlooking the scenic Chilkat Valley and surrounding peaks. Here we will don rock climbing shoes, helmets and harnesses. After a safety briefing and climbing introduction from the guides, we will rope up and start climbing.

There are a series of rock routes to choose from. Some climbs are very easy and others offer more challenge. Each ends with a stunning aerial view of the Chilkat River and the surrounding wilderness. Participants will have the chance to climb 3-4 different routes. Professional mountain guides will share their knowledge and skill in all aspects of climbing. Many of them have guided on peak ascents in Alaska and around the world and enjoy sharing their stories of adventures in the mountains. Your safety and enjoyment are always their primary concern.

This tour is the perfect adventure for those looking for their first climbing experience, or for experienced climbers looking for a challenge. No climbing is required and everyone will enjoy the cliff-side snack, hot cocoa, and stunning views. It is a strenuous tour, and participants need to be able to hike for 15 minutes uphill and over uneven terrain, and should dress in warm clothing that allows for good flexibility.
