Board a high-speed catamaran for a scenic 45-minute cruise to Haines along North America’s longest and deepest fjord, passing waterfalls and ice-carved peaks as your guide points out marine wildlife. In Haines, a naturalist guide takes you on a narrated 40-minute drive past historic Fort William H. Seward and up the Haines Highway, a National Scenic Byway. Watch for moose and swans in the marshlands along the way.
At the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, board an 18-foot raft for a quiet float (no whitewater), the best way to watch eagles feeding on the plentiful salmon. Bears and wolves sometimes join the feast. You’ll drift past towering mountains, hanging glaciers and the Tlingit village of Klukwan, where people have lived off this land for centuries.
Wrap up with a riverside picnic before the catamaran carries you back to Skagway with memories to last a lifetime. Dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and allergies, can be met with 48 hours’ notice.

Your guide picks you up at your ship for a quick check-in, sign waivers for tour, and answer any questions and help you board the fast ferry. Enjoy a 45-minute narrated cruise down the fjord to Haines, watching for waterfalls and marine wildlife along the way.
In Haines, meet your guide and driver for a scenic 45-minute drive up the Haines Highway, a National Scenic Byway, to the river. At the put-in, swap your shoes for rubber boots, put on a life jacket and get a full safety briefing from your raft guides.
Spend 90 minutes floating quietly through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve on a stable 18-foot raft (no whitewater). Watch for eagles, bears and moose against a backdrop of glacier-capped peaks.
Warm up at the river take-out with a picnic-style lunch, lemonade, hot cocoa and tea, while you take in the views one last time.
Take a short, scenic drive back down the Haines Highway to the ferry dock, then relax on the 45-minute ride back to Skagway.
Your guide will meet you 30 minutes prior to the tour start time to make sure all necessary paperwork is completed. If you are arriving by cruise ship, your guide will meet you at the end of the pier that your ship docks at.
