2 weeks ago I took my family Zip lining with your company in Skagway and I just wanted to recognize the wonderful experience we all had. With 2 Japanese speaking ladies and a newly turned 8 yr old I wasn't sure how it would go...but it turned out great. What a great memory maker!!!!! Please pass along a huge "THANK YOU" from Seiji..I am sure they will remember him!!! Thanks again....

This was an adventure of a lifetime! Our guides were excellent. We are in our 50's, and I never thought we would do such a thing. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I just can't say enough about it. It was great!!"

Tour Description

Klondike Rock Climbing & Rappelling is an award winning shore excursion, named Shore Excursion of the Season in the port of Skagway several years in a row.

Join Professional Mountain Guides for an exciting climbing adventure on the smooth granite walls of the White Pass. There are great climbs for all abilities and no experience is necessary for this tour.

Your excursion begins with a short interpretative drive through Downtown Skagway and up the Klondike Highway. From the Highway we hike for a few moments to the base of majestic rock cliffs recently smoothed by retreating glaciers. Here we will don rock climbing shoes, helmets and harnesses. After a climbing introduction from the guides we will rope up and start climbing the clean granite.

There are more than a dozen routes to choose from. Some climbs are very easy and others offer more challenge. Each ends with a stunning aerial view of the Skagway River, The White Pass Yukon Route Railway, and the surrounding wilderness. Throughout the duration of the tour, participants will have the chance to climb many of the routes and try rappelling on the high cliffs. Professional mountain guides will share their knowledge and skill in all aspects of climbing. Many of them have guided on Denali and around the world and enjoy sharing their stories of adventures in the mountains. Your safety and enjoyment are always their primary concern.

This adventure tour is perfect for those looking for their first climbing experience, or for experienced climbers looking for a challenge. No climbing is required and everyone will enjoy the cliffside snack, and stunning views. Participants need to be able to hike for a few minutes over uneven terrain, and should dress in warm clothing that allows for good flexibility.

(~10 minutes) – Your friendly tour guide will meet you near the Skagway Small Boat harbor sign and restrooms. Here they will take the opportunity to get to know you and provide answers to any questions that you might have about your upcoming excursion.

Hello, My daughter & I attended a rock climb & rappelling excursion in Skagway. We had the blast of our life!!! My daughter was a quick spider on the rocks, I, a slow spider!! It was awesome and from a personal stand point a great challenge for me... the experience was outstanding, the staff were knowledgeable, encouraging, humorous - great people to hang with. This was our number one adventure in Alaska....The rock climb will always be a very favorite. Thank-you for such a great opportunity.
- Susan and Bernadette H.

We wanted to express how thrilled we were with the climbing & rapelling tour in Skagway. There was a wide range of climbing available, from beginner to advanced. We have climbed over the years and were dually impressed. Our guide Sean had a plethora of knowledge about Skagway and the climbs. He was well spoken, funny, intelligent and engaging. Our sincere thanks.

We've been on two Alaska cruises, and this was the best excursion we've had. The climbing guides made it great. They were enthusiastic, passionate about climbing, helpful and friendly, and inspired confidence with their experience and knowledge of climbing. My two sons and I had a great time that we will remember forever and tell others about.
